In keeping with their tradition of creating confusion, the ITALIANS have taken away (it seems) the bonus of being able to travel on the Leonardo Express from Roma Fumicino airport into the centre of Rome.
In the original press release dated 17 September 2007, the Provincia de Roma were proud to state ""The flagship of provincial Card is the agreement with 'Leonardo Express' train connecting the airport in half an hour at Fiumicino with Termini station in Rome. Tourists will be able to travel free of charge on this train with the simple purchase of the package of 'Rome & More Pass'."
Now this move has come, it seems, after the airport taxi drivers were forced into accepting fixed rates for rides into Rome, and we believe that it was them who have had this "perk" taken away......
Roma & Più Pass
This pass was launched by the Municipal Authorities in Roma, the Province of Roma and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, in conjunction with ATAC, COTRAL and Trenitalia. The Roma & Più Pass is the cultural tourist card of the Capital and its Province, offering discounts and services to encourage visits to their museums: it will allow tourists and other visitors to enjoy the sights of Roma and its Province.
The pass costs € 25 only and entitles holders to: free admission to the first two museums and/or archaeological sites visited (with queuing), full access to the public transport system, reduced tickets and discounts for any other following museums and sites visited, as well as exhibitions, music events, theatrical and dance performances, and all other other tourist services.
Roma & Più Pass comes with a kit that includes:
- Roma & Più Pass Transport: your public transport ticket
- Roma & Più Pass Map: a map of the city illustrating the location of Local Tourist Offices, Underground Stations, museums/sites of interest (addresses, phone numbers, buses and underground stations, Cotral coaches, Trenitalia trains, timetables)
- Roma & Più Pass Guide: the complete list of museums/sites of interest that have joined the initiative
- Roma & Più Pass News: the programme of events and tourist services that are eligible for discounts divided by the area of interest: art, music, theatre, dance, entertainment, and sightseeing tours
Roma & Più Pass and Roma & Più Pass Transport are valid for three days from their validation date. It does not include the Leonardo Express from Fumicino into Roma Termini, or COTRALs local services.
